You thought Star Treck was way ahead of our times? Apparently the movie had yet to inspire designers throughout the world. Sure, the idea of a door that opens only after it does a fingerprint check-up on you was crazy back then, but that does not mean that it makes it less real in the present. “Smart Door” comes from iHouse, a company that invests in creating high-tech housing products.
All you have to do is place your finger on the scanner to release the door’s lock, and you can program other fingers for operating the lights, activating the AC, lifting the window blinds and lots more. Not only this, your smart door lock is endowed with a cool feature of storing the data, date and time of the last 64 accesses, thereby giving you the information on who entered the residence during that period. There are three ways you can open this door. Remotely, by sending a command through your PC or advanced mobile phone, through a numeric password or by simply taping the scanner with your finger. All your family members can have access to opening the door, so more fingerprints can be registered. Futuristic and fun, this is guaranteed to keep the burglars away.

Macrolux LED Poles - No Limits To Adjusting the Lighting in Your Home
There always seems to be something tricky about adjusting lights in your apartment. First off, the angle: where should the lamps or light bulbs be placed so that the lighting could be perfect? But let’s say it will eventually feel that you got it right and that the source of light is where it should be.
Even then there’ is bound to be at least one problem or one spot where you would like more or less intensity. This is what the German designers at Hansandfranz had in mind when coming up with the concept for these amazing Macrolux LED poles. Forget about all those awkward angles of light and enjoy the flexibility that this design has to offer. Extensible and telescopic, the poles occupy little space and can be used to improve the overall look of your apartment, not to mention the creating of that lighting that you’ve craved for. There is no information on the price yet, but we expect this beauty on the market very soon.

Asian Creativity at Its Best: The SongMax Clothing Store for Women
Using the colors black, white and red, the designers from Elevation Workshop managed to bring elegance and style to this project. However, these were otherwise necessary factors, being given the targeted audience. We found out that the store has not been yet opened to the public, which explains why no pictures with clothes are available. The opening will occur soon. We only hope that the clothes sold there will live up to the building’s fantastic design.
The SongMax Clothing store is an amazing design project that comes from a Chinese company called Elevation Workshop (ELEV). The founders say that ELEV is “positioned at the crossroads of art and architecture”. We here at Freshome believe that The SongMax clothing store is a perfect combination between the two, a great idea for a unique commercial interior. The brand that the store serves targets business women with strong carriers. Naturally, these types of women want to stand out. The idea here was to make it so that the clients of this fancy clothing store could feel in the center of attention. The floor is lifted in the air similar to a stage and the “L”-shaped lines within the store give it a feeling of space or endless roads.

Remarkable Design : Save Energy with Solar Roof Tiles
Renewable energy and alternative sources of energy are some of the buzz words that we are hearing daily. The fact that the principles of sustainability are embraced by the design industry is remarkable. These solar roof tiles are an example of how some designs can be creative and environmental friendly at the same time. SRS Energy is the company that has taken design to another level. The tiles are completely embedded in the design, so it is basically impossible for your neighbors or anybody else for that matter to tell the difference.
We quote from the site of the manufacturers: “SRS Energy roofing tiles are designed to capture and convert sunlight into cost-saving electricity without compromising aesthetics. The tiles are offered as an integrated upgrade to a traditional roofing purchase. Added to the protection and curb appeal expected from a premium roofing system, homeowners are able to capitalize on solar electricity as sustainable value”.The roof with the embedded tiles can currently be purchased only in USA .

Gaudi Stool, a Mix of Architecture and Design
Although the design is highly creative, the question of ergonomics comes to mind. This stool is great to have around in a commercial center or in your home for those times you have too many guests, but otherwise it does not look very comfortable.
The stool comes from Bram Geenen, a young designer from The Netherlands. Its shape was created “by making a model of hanging chains, so letting gravity determine the strongest and most logical shape for withstanding forces”.
This interesting stool was designed following the creative patterns of Gaudi, the famous Spanish architect. Gaudi’s plans for building churches impressed millions of people throughout the decades, so why not make the most of them and include them in modern design?
The chair was a part of a project that focused on the issue of lightweight products. You will find more interesting projects on Bram’s site and you can also get in contact with him.
